St.Edward's is home to the 16th Oldham Scouts and currently caters for Beavers, Rainbows, Cubs, Brownies and Scouts. Beevers - Beever Scouts are aged between 6 and 8 years old. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between eight and eight years six months. There are currently vacancies for boys wishing to join the Beevers and you should contact Stephen Exton if your son is interested in joining. The Beevers meet every Tuesday evening.
Rainbows - For girls aged 5 to 7. See the website All about Rainbows for more information. St. Edwards Rainbows is held every Monday evening in term time at St. Edwards Church Hall from 5.45pm – 6.45pm. Subs are £25 per term. Rainbows is for girls aged 5 – 7. They are the youngest member of the guiding unit. Rainbows receive badges when they have completed different activities. They make things, play games, paint, sing songs. They sometimes go outdoors for activities. Over a typical year Rainbows usually go to a Pantomime, have a day out, have a Christmas Event, and an end of year party. Brownies - For girls aged 7 to 10 - also have their own website All about Brownies St. Edward’s Brownies are hoping to put together a rota of Parent Helpers for the meetings on Monday evenings. If enough parents are willing to help it should mean that you will only be called on once or twice each term. Scouts - The Scout Section is for young people, usually aged between 10½ and 14 years. A young person can come in to the Troop at 10 and may stay until they are 15 years old. Information regarding local activities can be found at the Oldham Scouts website with further details at ScoutBase UK the official website of the Scout Association If your child is interested in joining these activities, initial enquiries should be made to Michaela or Stephen Exton.
Parents are invited to join the CBS support group, raising funds for the various activities, lending assistance when necessary and providing refreshments after the 11.30am Mass about once a month.
